Ultrasound

Acoustic consultants involved in major projects can be confronted with a requirement to measure and/or monitor ultrasound. The Ultrasound option for the Norsonic Nor145 extends the frequency range up to the 40 kHz third octave band. The Ultrasound option can be used with a standard ½” microphone but a ¼” microphone is a recommended to measure high frequency sounds more accurately. The Nor145 Ultrasound option also adds 96 kHz sampling frequency for audio recording. Being able to use any size of SD card with the Nor145 is a really helpful feature when recording at 96 kHz sampling frequency. The Ultrasound option also extends the upper frequency of the Nor145 FFT option up to 44 kHz – you can of course view the third octave and FFT spectra simultaneously on the Nor145.

Many consultants will welcome the opportunity to measure and record ultrasound with a precision instrument – especially when it is available as an option to add to a market-leading sound level meter which can potentially be used for almost any other requirement that is likely to be encountered. 

This functionality is not just limited to attended measurements. The Norsonic Nor145, equipped with the Ultrasound option can be used with the Nor145 outdoor kit for long-term unattended measurements. 

The Ultrasound option can also be fitted to the Nor1545 Noise Monitoring Terminal which can be used live-to-web with NorCloud or as a “permanent” long-term unattended noise monitor.
