ANV Measurement Systems have been providing instrumentation for vibration measurements for more than 20 years. The experienced and expert staff at ANV Measurement Systems have a particular interest in this area and are well-qualified to offer advice to customers.Â
The Rion VM-56 was designed (with input from ANV Measurement Systems) specifically to measure building and ground vibration. It can measure VDV, PPV (and dominant frequency) and displacement simultaneously. These can be logged in user-definable measurement periods (eg 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes or an hour) whilst 100 ms values are stored simultaneously for a detailed time history of events.
The VM-56 has a really wide dynamic range and exceptionally low noise floor (up to 100 mm/s and down to below the VC-F curve – it’s actually only above the VC-G curve at frequencies below 1.6 Hz). This makes the VM-56 really well-suited to measurements for perceptible vibration, groundborne noise and sensitive machinery.
Many practitioners like to record the raw vibration signal and post-process the data to get the parameters that they want. You can add the NX-56WR wav file recording option to the VM-56 which stores the raw acceleration data simultaneously with making the measurements on site.
VX-56RT can be added to the VM-56 to measure third octave band acceleration levels (the wav file and third octave options can operate simultaneously).Â
The Rion VM-56 is like having 3 instruments in 1. It’s a great instrument for attended vibration measurements, it’s really well-suited to long-term unattended measurements and, with ANV’s Live PPV, it can be used for live-to-web monitoring (but not with the third octave option loaded).Â
The frequency range of the VM-56 is 0.5 Hz – 315 Hz. If you need a wider frequency range, the Rion DA-21 supports d.c. – 20 kHz. The frequency range of the Rion DA-21 is dictated by the ICP accelerometers that you choose to use with it.
